Buckeye, Thanks for getting this word out. While the democrats (who are desperately protecting their campaign contributions) and brainwashed union members squeal about worker's rights and dress like pigs in the state capital, they ignor the will of the vast majority of Wisconsin resident taxpayers. Oh sure, union workers pay taxes too. But, it is a direct conflict of interest for government workers to be unionized. This is not a worker's right. it should never have been permitted in the first place. Doing so proved beyond a doubt that it should not have been done.
Trying to negotiate with a union for government pay and benefits is not successful. Just look at any state now. How many government workers are without jobs after two years of unprescidented layoffs in the private sector? Very few, by comparison.
In the private workplace is it your RIGHT to have union representation? Well, the unions would like you to think so. But, not really. It can be your choice if you and your other workers agree to union representation. If it was so great, however, the union wouldn't be lobbying for the elimination of secret ballots in the workplace during the process.
The unions are desperately trying to protect their income for the union and its leadership. They never give a damn about the workers unless it benefits the union.
Most unfortunate in all this is 14 elected state senators that think because they can't get their own way they are going to hold up the democratic process. They are all in violation of their oaths of office. There should be no respect granted to this group. Did the Stealers run from the field when they knew they could not win the Superbowl? These men and women (even though they are acting like spoiled children without any brains) lack INTEGRITY! Well, most politicians do, but this group also lacks SELF RESPECT. They will long be remembered for this action alone. No matter what good they may have done in their lives, their families, their communities. Their legacy will be their foolish choice to run and hide.
JFK is remembered for "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." Well, the republicans are facing up to the unpopular task of cleaning up the mess the democrat majority left for them (some of the 14 are responsible for that, as well.) They are the majority party and they are doing the task the way they see it.
Perhaps we should be referring to these defectors as Confederates. That seems to be the only other time in our nation's history that public officials ran-out. But, that was another time and matter.

We voted for Gov Walker in Wisconsin as a proven leader to get this state moving in the correct direction. Years of failed leadership exacerbated by Democrat spend & tax leadership has piled up excessive state debt. Unlike the federal government, the state cannot print money (not that doing so solves any real problems.) Gov Walker takes positive action to idenitify and SOLVE issues. Unfortunately, unions (when he was Milwaukee County Executive) and their court challenges on questionable contract provisions made this difficult. He has good advice and recognizes the long-term issues on unionized government workers. Not all states permit this and Wisconsin should be one of them.

Even FDR understood the threat of unionization of government workers. in a 1937 letter FDR wrote:

"The employer [of government workers] is the whole people." Government employees, he continued, have "the obligation to serve the whole people, whose interests and welfare require orderliness and continuity in the conduct of Government activities. This obligation is paramount. Since their own services have to do with the functioning of the Government, a strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government until their demands are satisfied. Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government by those who have sworn to support it, is unthinkable and intolerable."

These union-member protesters have proven over and over their true interest is the protection of their sweet deals. Their CBRs are not being eliminated, just reduced to wage & salary. Still a sweet deal, not to mention the benefits they already have. Teachers union leads the way -- now you know where the sweetest deals are.

Hi Two Cents,

Actually, yes. There was a link (blocking legislation) in the quoted part of the article that takes you to the individual voting records. Here’s the full link. http://senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=111 &session=2&vote=00253 Yes, the idiots still don’t get it.

BTW, did you hear about the debacle concerning the S510 food safety bill that the Senate passed earlier this week? It is now being revealed that US Senators slipped up in a big way when passing the Food Safety Modernization Act on Tuesday: They added what are effectively "new taxes" into the bill, and according to the U.S. Constitution, only the House of Representatives can initiate legislation requiring new taxes. The Dems will stop at nothing to tax us into the poor house.

Imagine that…liberals trying to sneak a new tax in under the radar!

And these are just the start!

Most all federal departments and agencies should have a 15% (minimum) budget reduction imposed.

Re-look at the idea of Sunset provisions where agency budgets must be re-justified each and every year.

Eliminate the Department of Energy entirely.

You get the idea. It's time for a re-evaluation of government. We'll never get it from the current elected officials and even the newly elected will have difficulty once they run up against the RNC and DNC leadership. (There's two independent organizations that the public should de-fund!)

A doomed presidency is a blessing for all Americans; although the most likely reason Dems' are turning on Obama is to save their own yellow necks and jobs of power. Where was their conscience a year ago when the three Musketeers were shoving nationalized health care down our throats? Where was their conscience on the cap and tax vote? How about the stim and spend bill, the nationalization of the auto and finance industry? How about the ongoing 2nd Amendment fight, or the fight to censor the airwaves and the Internet? Or worse yet, all of the tax bills they have passed to murder the unborn, both here and overseas.

I believe the Dems' will throw Obama under the bus only because they have reached the point of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em." Their allegiance to a conservative America is a ruse and will be played out long enough for the Dems' to think they can regain control, again.

What America needs to remember is that the Democrats are arrogant, lack respect for life, run as moderates and peacekeepers and rule as left wing extremists -- wanting and needing to control everything. The Dems' think they know what is right for everyone else because they believe they are better than everybody else, when in fact they are nothing but a bunch of power-hungry, lying, cheating, pathetic individuals, intent on becoming richer and more powerful from the sweat and hard work of the American people.
